Akzeltolt, Spirit of the Forsaken Sanctuary - WIP (updated)
posted June 17, 2010
Our next miniature is a terrifying character, a creature of magic that was buried alive and entombed for centuries. Now, he has broken free of the mighty spells that held him captive and he's about to unleash his wrath upon his enemies.
Here are a several 3D renders of the work-in-progress sculpt. Many details such as accessories and weapons are yet to be added. Once again, we had the talented Ignatius Tan refining Benoit Guerville's original concepts. The sculpt, begun by Benoit, is being finalized by Fausto Gutiérrez López over the next few days.
As always, we're providing multiple options for this character. You will be able to make him a formidable Egyptian-like mummy character, a feathered snake character of Mayan / Aztec descent, or a vulture-ish warrior/sorcerer that could roam any ancient evil necropolis or corrupted temple.
*edit - Many details such as accessories, armor and weapons are yet to be added. Currently, the accessories and weapons include 3 different magical staffs, an Aztec-like sword, an Egyptian-like sword, and an Egyptian-like scythe. We are also not happy with the lizard head as is and will probably come up with another version.
We are most interested in your feedback to make this mini even better. Please drop us a line in the Comments section below. - /edit*
Akzeltolt is part of our Spirit line. He will be available for pre-order at a low introductory price before the end of the month. Just like Spirit of the Woods Syl-Iriah, you'll be able to choose between the Heroic and Legendary versions.

The model looks great, but the wings just don’t look right – they seem too detached and awkward as is.
Perhaps it’s the angles of the pictures, but it’s hard to see how they attach let alone fly.

Really like it. As one of the few people who can easily use the Aztec type pieces, I’d like you to alter the lizard head (which you’ve said you’re not happy with). The current one is too big for the torso and needs shrinking a bit. The Vulture head with the feathers looks the best with it’s proportions currently. I’d like the aztec style one to be a snake rather than a lizard as this guy would fit best as a Quetzocoatl style incarnation. Also, do the wings have to be squared off like that? Surely they’d look better with the ends tapered?

I like the model. Looks fairly large and monstrous.
What’s the round metallic object in the wing area? That looks out of place.

I think some runes or hieroglyphs etched into the halo would make it more interesting.

First, I’d like to say: THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME
Aynways, I like the 2. and 4. head the best. The wings are cool but look very difficult for assembling, and may easily break down during transportation (if some one would field this guy – acutally I would, as he looks so damn awesome that I’d want everybody to see him!)

I love it,especially the skull faced one. (which would fit into my Tomb kings army perfectly). I also see this model being used in a chaos army (both fantasy & 40k). Great job guys!

He looks fantastic but im not sure what i would do with him other then paint him up for the display case… looking at the above pics the other thing that worried me is that he looks like he will be horridly expensive. if the price is reasonable im sure this bad boy will sell very well

Simply stunning. I’m not sure if the model is leaning too far forward from the wing contraption. Looks like there could be too much negative space behind the shoulders. I also can’t determine the overall balance of the model without understanding what is extending behind the wing contraption.
But fantastic none-the-less. Definitely pre-ordering.

Hi! I like the feathered lizard head and the skull head. The wings are too much and make the model too busy. Drop the wings and make it look like he’s coming out of a temple wall or a sarcophagus.

Holy Cow Awesome!!

I think some type of ‘good guy’ head, like an angelic head, would be great, with a holy sword and shield. That would allow this guy to be used as a solar or other ‘higher planar’ being for D&D.
