Vampiric Week
posted February 18, 2010
So here comes a special Vampire / Dark Elven / Demon Lord week ! Stay tuned for news and new pics and vids nearly everyday in the coming week.
We are really pleased by the work of our little team on this one. And we especially want to tip our hats to Fausto Gutiérrez López who did an amazing job sculpting this mini. As a reminder, the concept of this mini was drawn by Bertrand Benoit under our own Benoit Guerville’s never flinching supervision. The giant bat head is a creation of Ignatius Tan. The sculpting you can see in the videos below is the work of Fausto. The dark elven helmet and wings have been sculpted by Benoit.
So here is a video of the vampire version. Two more videos, a mid-size shot and a close-up, can be seen here.
See you tomorrow for Demon / Giant Bat images.

PS: About those videos: the posing of the wings might still change a bit. We are also still pondering about the cape. Although we like its volume very much as is, it is really problematic if you want to use this beast inside a unit on a regular footman base. So what do you think we should do: a smaller cape? A 40×40mm base? Other ideas ? Please let us know by leaving a comment…

Hello.
Maybe the cape can be optional if you want you can put it on and if the Lord is in an infantry unit you can “Take off” to fit in.
Just an idea

I would say both optional, the wings and the cape… especially for the dark elf version, as it would seem strange. Or maybe include something like ‘scenic’ cape and ‘regiment’ cape? (two different options when ordering?)

I love it, but agree with Duvan and Pawel. Keep the wings and cape as is (maybe a bit thinner/finer) but make them optional so they are not preattached and we can glue them on if we want to use them or not.
ie. if I was going to use the vampire for D&D, I would keep the wings/cape but if I wanted to use it for warhammer, I most likely would not.
Personally, I want it. WOuld that vampire be metal or resin? I hope resin…

PS: can’t wait to order the beast head vampire :)

I’d just angle the cape so that it either swings left or right, but not back. I think most of us using it in a certain game of fantasy warfare would be fine placing the model, in either the left or rightmost corner of the unit. I’d say this change would require the least re-sculpting… just a thought
